Making a late 19th century bonnet from a straw hat

I came across these photos while working on my redesigned kipar.org Costume Portfolio website. Nigh 10 years ago I made a late 19th century silk-covered and feathered bonnet from an old straw hat.

I hope this might be useful for someone. It was fairly easy to make and great fun. Also: these Biedermeier bonnets are a hoot, anyone looks pretty silly in them. 🙂
